An acclaimed Shakespearean actor, and known worldwide for his role as Gandalf, Sir Ian Mckellen is one of the greatest talents Britain has ever produced. Yet it would appear that this British institution has been subjected to death threats throughout his life simply due to the fact that he is gay.
To me he is such a role model; professional and not afraid to ever speak his mind. Coming out live on radio in the 1980's when being gay was still a 'big deal', he has been a committed advocate and campaigner of equal rights. Why anyone would even consider killing such a guy simply due to the fact that he likes guys is beyond me. The only reassuring part is that he says the death threats have subsided.
This is the twenty-first century people, stop being so single-minded! To your integrity and perseverance under such duress i salute you Sir Ian.
